  • 0 Our Team Manager

Gareth made his debut for the Club at 16 in 1999, breaking into first team at 17 and continued playing until end of 2003 season. During this period the first team struggled at the bottom of the Spar Mid Wales League. He then had a spell away from the Club between 2003-2009, before returning in 2009 when Nigel Thomas was Manager and the Club in the Mid Wales South.   It was as a player under Nigel Thomas that he captained the side during a successful 2009/2010 season and the following season saw us enter the newly formed Spar Mid Wales Second Division . He stepped up as Player Manager in the 2011/2012 season and guided the Club to back to back promotions, finishing runners up in the Spar Mid Wales Second Division in 2012/2013 and then Spar Mid Wales First Division Champions in 2013/2014.   The following season saw the Club playing in the Cymru Alliance against the likes of Llandudno and Caernarfon Town who have subsequently had spells in the Welsh Premier League. After a years break from management following the Cymru Alliance season, he returned to the hot seat midway through the 2017/2018 season and helped to the Club to a second place finish during the 2019/2020 season.   Player Achievements Mid Wales South League and Cup Runner Up 2009/2010 Emrys Morgan Cup Winner 2009/2010 Radnorshire Cup Winner 2010/2011 Player/Manager Achievements Spar Mid Wales First Division Winners 2013/2014 Spar Mid Wales First Division Runners Up 2019/2020 Spar Mid Wales Second Division Runners Up 2012/2013 Radnorshire Cup Winners 2011/2012 & 2016/2017 Radnorshire Cup Runners Up 2014/2015   Chairman Geraint Davies was overjoyed at Gareth's extension at his managerial position, “ We are entering a new league this season with challenges that Gareth will rise to, his experience will be evident and he will do our club proud once again”.   In a meeting with Gareth earlier, he told the club.   “First and foremost I am looking forward to a return to competitive football and seeing all the players, management and everyone involved with the club again. It’s been a long time off!!   We take our place in in the newly formed Ardal South Eastern League against opponents from the Newport/Gwent Area in the main which will be a completely new experience for the players. I am expecting it to be a step up in footballing terms, having played teams from the south in both the Welsh Cup and Welsh Trophy in recent seasons, they are fiercely competitive games but ones the players should look forward to and we have nothing to fear. As a Club our aim has always been to give players the opportunity to test themselves at the highest level. We want to represent the Town and Mid Wales Football to the best of our ability and are looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
